The 2022 Adult Rider Program is looking forward to a great year. The fun starts with the kick off of the Virtual Team Challenge (VTC). Katy Raynor Awarded the First Ever Area I “Living Courageously” Sportsmanship Award
To honor the lives of Devyn Merritt Anderson and Jessica Halliday who both lost their courageous battles with cancer in late 2021 Area I has established an annual “Living Courageously” Sportsmanship Award. Both Anderson and Halliday were active Adult Rider Program (ARP) members in Area I. They continued to support their riding friends and family no matter what life threw at them and could often be found cheering others on with a smile. Area 1 Virtual Meeting 2022
It is that time of the year again… Come join us at the Area 1 Meeting, similar to last year, Covid is impacting our format and we will be meeting virtually over two nights. January 26th is the general meeting and January 27th are sessions for interested members. The meeting and sessions this year are focused on competing and supporting our Area 1 events. Joan Davis has once again graciously allowed all of the pictures you purchased from her to be used gratis. Area 1 Teams Dominate the SmartPak ATC Scavenger Hunt
The USEA Adult Team Championships (ATC) were a huge success this year, garnering a record-breaking 58 ATC teams at the USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Nutrena Feeds. The ATC provides USEA Adult Rider program members with the chance to compete as a team and represent their Area in a friendly and fun environment at the Beginner Novice, Novice, Training, and Preliminary levels. YR AEC Recap
On August 31st, the USEA American Eventing Championships presented by Nutrena Feeds took place at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. Five riders and six horses in the Young Rider Program traveled to compete in the national championship. Cassie Sanger and Lea Adams-Blackmore competed in the Bates USEA Preliminary Junior/Young Rider Championships which was the first division to kick off the 2021 AECs. Cadence Theroux competed in the USEA Novice Jr. Championship as well as the Beginner Novice level. Area 1 Avengers win the Novice ATC
The winning team in the Adult Team Championships for the Novice division went to the Area I Avengers consisting of Tracie Sales and Ebony, Lisa Hilda and Cooleys Rule of Law, and Gwynne Bayne with FGF EllGee. The three-person team tacked the lowest score with only 92.9 penalties.

GMHA Adds FEI 3* short to Festival of Eventing August 13-15 2021
Warm days, cool nights, great galloping and prize money: Come to Vermont in August! GMHA’s beautiful, horse-friendly venue is now hosting a 3 Star. This year’s August Festival will have BN,N,T,P,I FEI 2* and FEI 3* (short). Take in the idyllic Vermont setting while competing on tracks designed by Morgan Rowsell (xc) and Chris Barnard (stadium) for $10,000 in prize money.
Groton House Canceled 2021
Due to COVID-19 considerations, the horse trials at Groton House Farm are cancelled for 2021. It was a difficult decision for GHF this year. We hope to see you at GHF next year! It may be possible that one or more of our unrecognized events may run this year, but those decisions will be made later in the spring.
