The Orange Pippin Jumpstart Award
This award will be given annually to a special horse who, over the course of their career, has sparked a love for Eventing to multiple riders new to the sport. The award is given in memory of Orange Pippin, an incredibly special chestnut Thouroughbred mare who was an early mount for five different Area 1 young riders during her 11 year career, introducing them to the joys and challenges of Eventing and inspiring them all to remain lifelong horsepeople.
The winning horse will be chosen annually by a panel of Pippin’s people from horses nominated by riders, owners, or trainers.
A winning horse will share Pippin’s inspiring characteristics:
- a love for the sport, especially XC
- not the easiest ride but always keeps their rider safe
- a wonderful and educational partner who leaves their riders better than they met them
- jumpstarted multiple different riders in Eventing, recognized or unrecognized, across their career
- a best friend

We definitely encourage multiple riders of the same horse to share their own words- please compile into one document per horse.
