The Area 1 Young Rider Program is working towards offering more awards specific to the program and its membership. Below is a breakdown of awards available to all members.
Young Rider Cup Presented By: North Bridge Equine in Memory of Jessica Halliday
This award goes to the Area 1 Young Rider who received the lowest final score at any event located in Area 1 at any level. The score must be achieved during the active membership period. The “Cup” is awarded during the Area 1 Annual Meeting which takes place in January.
Qualification Period: UNH Spring H.T. to Hitching Post Fall H.T.

Low Score Awards
The low score awards goes to the Area 1 Young Rider who received the lowest final score at each event located in Area 1 at any level. The score must be achieved during the active membership period. The medals are awarded after each event concludes and is shipped to the recipient.

USEA Awards & Leaderboards
Certificate of Horse & Rider Achievement
Awarded to a horse and rider combination who have completed three or more events at the Beginner Novice level during the same competition year. See here for specifications.
THE BLUE RIBBON AWARD
Awarded to a horse and rider combination who has placed first through third at three events at the same level in a single competition year. Available for the Beginner Novice through Advanced levels. See here for specifications.
USEA MEDAL PROGRAM
Horse and rider combinations can receive a gold, silver, or bronze medal at the Beginner Novice through Preliminary levels. See here for specifications.
USEA LeaderboardS
The USEA Leaderboard is formulated based on points earned at USEA recognized competitions throughout the calendar year. Categories include: Overall Horse, Overall Rider, Young Rider, Amateur, Pony, Lady Rider, Stallion, and Mare of the Year. See here for specifications.
USEF Awards & Leaderboards
NATIONAL YOUTH sportsman award
The primary goals of the US Equestrian National Youth Sportsman’s Award is to identify future leaders within the equine industry from across all breeds and disciplines and distinguish outstanding youth for their achievements.
Individuals 17 or younger, as of December 1 of the current competition year, who are active members in good standing with US Equestrian and their Recognized National Affiliate are eligible to apply. Applicants are expected to demonstrate an ongoing commitment and dedication to the promotion of equestrian sport, serve as a positive role model for peers, and exhibit characteristics that exemplify positive sportsmanship principles. Community involvement in equestrian activities as well as involvement at any level of competition (Local, Regional, or National) are additional requirements applicants must meet.
The overall winner of the US Equestrian National Youth Sportsman Award receives a commemorative trophy, $1,000 grant payable to the educational program of choice. The reserve winner receives a $500 grant payable to the educational program of choice.
The application process runs from May 1st- August 15th of each year. Completed applications should be submitted to the appropriate US Equestrian Recognized National Affiliate.
