Area 1 Young Rider Classic Three Day Event Teams

Waredaca Classic Three Day Event (Laytonsville, MD)

October 24-26, 2025

Area 1 Young Riders is offering the opportunity to field teams for The Waredaca Classic Three Day Event held in October in Laytonsville, Maryland for levels from Beginner Novice to Modified. Teams to be coached by Jane Hamlin. Educational seminars and demonstrations include proper horse inspection techniques, cross-country course walks, steeplechase practice sessions, conditioning and fitness seminars, and more.

Waredaca is part of USEA’s Classic Series. “Long format events from the Beginner Novice to Preliminary levels are still a reality with the USEA Classic Series and include roads and tracks, steeplechase, and cross-country on “endurance day,” as well as horse inspections. Educational activities are offered at the USEA Classic Series Events.”

If you are interested in participating on a Young Rider team, please complete this form by Tuesday, September 9, 2025.

Levels Offered:
Modified, Training, Novice, and Beginner Novice.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Must be a current member of BOTH the USEA Area 1 Young Rider Program and the USEA. If you are not a member of the Area 1 Young Rider Program, you may join by logging in to your USEA online member dashboard, then scroll to Membership.
  • Must have obtained at least one (1) MER at your designated level.
    • MER (minimum eligibility requirement):
      • Dressage – no more than 45 penalty points
      • Cross-country – no jumping penalties and not more than 30 time penalties
      • Show jumping – no more than 16 jump penalties

IMPORTANT! – If you are planning to attend Waredaca and would like to be considered for a team, please complete the sign-up form no later than September 9.

Meet the Coach:

Jane Hamlin is an active event and dressage rider, trainer, and coach based at Pirouette Farm in Norwich, Vermont. Her positive attitude, with an emphasis on teaching good basics, has produced successful riders at the beginner level to the Olympic level. She enjoys teaching both adult amateurs as well as young riders and is a popular clinician teaching at such clinics as the Area 1 Young Rider camp and the Junior Horsemanship Clinic at GMHA. In addition to her teaching, she brings along nice young horses with careful preparation and education. Jane holds both a USEF Event and Dressage judge’s license as well as an FEI International Eventing Judge license.
