After long hard thoughts and discussions we at Grindstone Mountain have decided to not run the horse trials in 2018. As everyone should already know we are not an Eventing farm, but were more then willing to embrace the history of the farm. However, the horse trials dictated what we could not do on the farm all year long. This made it very difficult to create “our” farm. We also did not find the competition to be financially feesable.The 2017 horse trials were invigorating! We found a great appreciation for another part of our sport. The first horse out of the start gate was an amazing feeling. We learned so much in a short time and will continue to educate ourselves in the next year. In 2018, we plan to have schooling opportunities for most of the summer and run a few local shows and possibly a few Derbies. While our future plans for hosting recognized horse trials are up in the air, we want to keep our options open while we continue grow Grindstone Mountain Farm.
