Online Dressage Critique w/ Jane Hamlin

April 25, 2021

Dates: April 19, 2021-May 1, 2021

Hooray for signs of Spring in Area 1!! Now let your Young Rider program help you get ready for your first event. Here’s your chance to check how that dressage test is coming along and get some tips for polishing it up before you present it in competition.
Ride the dressage test of your choice in front of an FEI Eventing Judge who has judged the best of the best all over the world – in the convenience of your own arena! Yup, it is a virtual dressage critique by FEI Level 3 Eventing Judge, Jane Hamlin. If we get an overwhelming response, we will add a second judge. Here’s how it will go:
1. Choose the Eventing dressage test of your choice
2. Have someone video you riding your test. Make sure they stand at letter C in your arena to get the judge’s view. Try to find/create a space that is very close to the size and shape of the arena that the test is intended to be ridden in. The arena size is specified at the top of the dressage test. Find the Eventing Dressage Tests here. (Don’t worry, you don’t need a fancy dressage arena. Any piece of even ground with the dimensions marked out to keep you inside the rectangular space will do.) No competition videos will be accepted.
3. Send the video in an email to Jay Olcott: jolcott19@yahoo.com
4. In the email include:
The dressage video as an attachment
Name of the rider
Name of the horse
Which dressage test is being ridden
5. Tests must be received by 9pm May 1st.
6. Once your test has been judged, you will receive a picture via email of your test sheet, scored, and with comments.
This is a special opportunity available for members of the Area 1 Young Rider program only. It is free to you as a YR perk for your membership! One ride per member.
