Bettina Drummond studied with Master Nuno Oliveira in Europe for well over a decade and has an encyclopedic knowledge of French Classical Dressage. Bettina shares her extensive knowledge of both horse and rider biomechanics in a way that provides a clear path to improvement. Serious riders at dressage training level and above with a strong desire to improve are encouraged to participate.

Bettina Drummond is highly regarded in the United States and Europe. She was recently named “Honorary Écuyer” of Saumur with the Cadre Noir at the French National School of Equitation in Saumur, France. Bettina is only the second American to receive this honor. The other is George Morris. She is also only the second woman to be named Honorary Écuyer. The other is French Olympic dressage rider Margit Otto-Crépin. Bettina teaches the French Classical method of dressage following the tradition of the Portuguese Master Nuno Oliveira. Bettina spent 17 years in training with Master Oliveira, beginning at age seven. She earned the coveted spurs awarded to instructors at 17 and was recognized as a master trainer at 21. She was also influenced and coached by some of Europe’s finest trainers, including General Durand, Ecuyer en Chef and Commandant of the French National Equestrian School in Samur and Lieutenant Colonel Paolo Angioni of the Italian Cavalry. Bettina is actively working to preserve the art of horsemanship through a variety of educational programs and is a founding member of the Association for the Promotion of the Art of Horsemanship in America (www.apaha.us) Bettina travels across the U.S. and to France to teach and train and can occasionally be found performing exhibitions with fabulous horses, many of which are her own Lusitanos.
