In 2023, there will be 6 team challenges available to ALL Young Rider members. Members will automatically be placed in teams and notified of their team members a 1 week prior to the event. At each event, team members will have the opportunity to have dinner with their fellow teammates on venue grounds and get to know each other the Friday night before the event starts. If you do NOT want to take part in the Team Challenges please fill out the form below.
Team Rules:
- Must be a member of the Area 1 Young Rider Program prior to the event closing date. Enrollment in the YR program can be done through USEA’s online services. Click here for a tutorial on how to sign up.
- In the event that a team member does not complete a phase (elimination of any kind or withdrawl) a penalty score of 100 will be added to the rider’s score. (Note: since this rider would now have the highest score of their teammates, this would be the drop score).
Team Composition:
- Teams will be selected at random and consist of riders at various levels. ○ Similar to a championship team, each team will consist of 4 team members.
- Teams will be published 1 week prior to the event
- In the event rider distribution cannot meet the “4 per team rule”, some teams may have 5 or 3 members. The highest scores will still be dropped for teams with 4 or more. Teams of 3 members will not have a drop score.
- For GMHA Festival and Millbrook, one professional will be added to each team
Scoring:
- Scoring will follow the rules of Intercollegiate Team Challenges to accommodate for differences in level difficulty
- Each rider’s score is multiplied by a coefficient appropriate for their level
- Beginner Novice: 1
- Novice: .99
- Training: 0.9
- Preliminary: 0.85
- Intermediate: 0.75
- CCI1*: 0.85
- CCI2*-S: 0.8
- CCI2*-L: 0.75
- CCI3*-S: 0.70
- If Modified is offered, a coefficient of 0.95 will apply to Training level and 0.9 will apply to Modified.
- In the event that an even distribution of YR members is not possible to allow all teams to have an even number of participants, then the highest score will be dropped. Example: “Mike Williams’” score would be dropped, however he’d still receive the team prize if his team came in 3rd.
