Ronan is a 10 year old unraced TB gelding. I have had the pleasure of owning him for the past 6 1/2 years and have done all of his training myself. He is for sale as I would like to focus my time on my Paint, whom I have had for close to 15 years, and just do not have enough time for the both of them.
Ronan is tall, dark, and handsome! Standing at just over 17 hands and 1400 lbs, he is sure to get you noticed wherever you may go! I have focused on classic dressage training with him and we have shown training level at local shows and are currently schooling 1st level movements at home. He would also excel as a hunter under saddle or English pleasure horse. He does not have much jumping experience but is honest and willing and so I am sure would happily go over a small cross rail if need be in a championship class. I DO NOT feel that a competitive jumping home would be a good fit for him.
Ronan bonds strongly with his rider and has an incredible amount of heart. He is a quick learner and aims to please. He is the type of horse that loves to work and would prefer to be ridden 5-6x per week. I currently ride 4-5x and he is quiet and sensible 95% of the time. He loves to travel and is the same at shows and clinics as he is at home. He needs a strong intermediate to advanced rider who will keep him engaged and working through his ride. He does not have a mean bone in his body, but can pretend to be spooky if left to his own devices. Once he knows he is working, he is basically unflappable. If his rider is calm and confident, Ronan will be as well.
Ronan has a puppy dog personality and is always a barn favorite. He is gentle and personable and will do ANYTHING for a peppermint. He loves attention and will fall asleep on the cross ties while being groomed. Ronan cross ties, trailers, clips, stands quietly for the vet and farrier, and has excellent ground manners. He is a big goofball and likes to chew on his leads and reins and will play with zippers, pitchforks, etc if allowed. He has no idea how big he is and just wants to snuggle and play.
Ronan has had some health issues this past year which has limited our showing. It started with Lyme disease in December, a diagnosis of Kissing Spine and subsequent corrective surgery at Tufts in March, and then some minor arthritis in his right front fetlock that has responded beautifully to mild corrective shoes. To say 2020 has not been our year would be an understatement! Prior to all this, Ronan had been your typical TB with the occasional hoof abscess which resolved with soaking and time. Finally though, he is healthy and sound! He does require shoes on all 4 but otherwise does not need any maintenance.
Ronan is an incredibly nice horse that will give his next partner years of enjoyment. He is old enough to know what is expected of him and young enough to perform for years to come. I am looking for someone who will love and appreciate him as much as I do and will be very picky about where he goes. This horse truly has a piece of my heart and I want the absolute best for him.
Serious inquiries only please, no trials or off farm leases. I board at a gorgeous private facility in Carver, MA and prospective buyers are welcome to come ride as much as they need to ensure that Ronan is a good fit for them. Any questions, please feel free to send me a message!
Asking $6500, price negotiable to fantastic home. We are moving and I would ideally like to find Ronan a new home before January 1.
